The City of Edinburgh is a great place to start to visit Scotland it is a Medieval old town with narrow streets filled with history and splendour but don't be fooled by its look as Edinburgh is a very compact yet bustling City and there are plenty of attractions to keep everybody occupied.

Tours
Edinburgh offers an array of tours so you won't miss a single thing on your journey. Why not try the historical tour which takes you on a Celtic journey visiting sacred sites such as the Rosslyn Chapel. Or take a trip on the dark side and go on The Cadies and Witchery Tours telling you tales of witchcraft, plague and torture while visiting the creepy alleyways and courtyards. Or keep your sights to the norm and take an open top bus ride of the city where you can hop on and off wherever you would like to view the spectacular views and historic buildings from a closer angle.
History
As Edinburgh has a fantastic and extensive historic background there are lots of places of historic interest to visit. Edinburgh Castle is a great place to start your historic journey and dates back to the 12th century. This is where the crown jewels of Scotland are kept and also hosts the National War Museum of Scotland. You can take a guided tour of the castle where you will learn all it's history. The St. Giles Cathedral is the city church it has reflected the life and religion of Scotland and has a famous crown spire. The Camera Obscura is another great place to visit to see the history of Scotland but also hosts entertainment for the whole family. You can view live images of the history of Scotland projected onto the Victorian rooftop. There are three galleries which have a range of optical experiences. Why not visit Edinburgh Zoo where its has the most exciting wildlife in Scotland and has over 1000 animals over 82 acres of park land.
Scenic Views
Edinburgh has a beautiful beach with sand dunes and grassland and a spectacular cliff top walk past the ruined castle and has a beautiful view of the Forth Estuary. Another chance to see the scenic part of Edinburgh is to take a countryside walk in Lothian which isn't too far from Edinburgh.
Restaurants and Nightlife
Edinburgh is known for its festivals but also has a very good nightlife most of the city bars are very relaxed and open till 1am. Cabaret Voltaire hosts live music events and is also a busy nightclub. If you would like an evening full of laughter why not visit The Stand Comedy Club where there are a host of comedy stand ups. For something a bit more relaxing try the Opal Lounge to sample a cocktail. If you want a tasty treat Edinburgh offers many restaurants such as the roof top terrace restaurant of 'Oloroso' which has
spectacular views of Edinburgh Castle. Or to try something Italian visit 'Valvona and Crolla Vin Caffe'. For a more traditional Scotish meal try 'Howies' where each restaurant has their own special menu depending on the chef and the food is all local produce.
