Cornwall Airport Newquay has announced a raft of new routes launching in spring 2016 which are set to boost traveller numbers using the West Country airport.
The Aer Lingus Regional route between Cornwall Airport Newquay and Dublin Airport will return with a longer season and more frequent flights for 2016.
The route which launched in 2015 will recommence on 14th March 2016 and run until the 2nd January 2017. The route will launch initially with four flights a week (Mon/Thurs/Fri/Sun) with the schedule increasing to 6 flights a week from the end of April and with daily connectivity from early July.
Cornwall Airport Limited intends to apply to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for a change to the designation of a small area of airspace in the vicinity of the airport in response to commercial discussion with potential industry customers in the sector of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
This is an exciting opportunity for Cornwall to be in the vanguard of the next big advance in international aerospace.
Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has today (10th November 2015) put on sale its 2016 Summer schedule from Cornwall Airport Newquay featuring nine routes, including two that are brand new namely to Aberdeen and Doncaster Sheffield. This in total offers customers a choice of up to 56 flights a week.
Tickets are available for booking now at www.flybe.com with one way fares from £24.99 including taxes and charges and currently available for travel from 27th March through to 30th September 2016.
Cornwall Airport Newquay will be flying into the jet age next summer – thanks to an agreement between Cornwall Council, the Department of Transport and Flybe to operate 118 seat Embraer jet aircraft on the Newquay to Gatwick route.

Ryanair, Europe’s favourite airline, today (29 Oct) launched flights from Newquay Airport, with 2 routes to Alicante and Frankfurt Hahn, starting from April 2016, which will deliver 35,000 customers p.a. at Newquay Airport. Both routes will operate twice weekly, deliver 35,000 customers p.a. at Newquay Airport, Ryanair’s 17th UK destination.
Cornwall Council has confirmed it is to cease the £5 Airport Development Fee (ADF) levy currently paid by passengers flying from Cornwall Airport Newquay next year as part of a package of measures to help encourage new airlines to fly from the airport.
Following the introduction of the Public Service Obligation service there has been a 16% increase in the number of passengers using the Newquay to Gatwick route. At the same time there has also been a more general increase in the numbers of people using the airport.
