FLYBE ANNOUNCES TWO MORE NEW ROUTES FROM NEWQUAY
Leading regional airline expands summer schedule with new routes to
Newcastle and Belfast City.
Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline and the UK’s Number One Domestic carrier, will operate another two new routes from Newquay Cornwall Airport namely to Newcastle and Belfast City as part of its expanded summer 2012 schedule. The new routes will operate on Saturdays from May 5th with one way tickets including taxes and charges on sale now from £37.99 at www.flybe.com.
The announcement follows hot on the heels of Flybe’s announcement in December that it will also start flying a twice weekly service from Newquay Cornwall Airport to Norwich in May giving travellers to and from Cornwall a total choice of 7 routes and up to 80 flights a week during summer 2012 .
The new routes are expected to benefit a mix of business and leisure passengers and Flybe’s Managing Director, Andrew Strong, comments: “Flybe is strongly committed to its operations in the South West and our direct services to Belfast City and Newcastle sees us responding to consumer demand, creating convenient and better transport links to and from Cornwall. With the Irish Open in Portrush this summer, not to mention the wide range of other tourism initiatives planned throughout 2012, we anticipate particular interest in the new Belfast City route.”
Al Titterington, Newquay Cornwall Airport’s Managing Director adds: “Flybe’s news to add another two new destinations to its growing network here at Newquay is great news and further demonstrates their commitment to Newquay, even through challenging economic times. Belfast and Newcastle have proved to be very popular city breaks from the Southwest and equally, gives the Cornish tourism economy a boost as it continues to thrive.”
Concludes Mr Strong: “These two new routes give our passengers additional affordable travel options to attractive destinations and we look forward to operating our first flights in May.”
